OK, so he’s endorsed by the NRA

Perhaps you’ve heard the recent ad campaign for the incumbent WY Governor in which he brags about how much he hunts, how he taught his sons to hunt and wants to preserve the right of his sons to teach their sons to hunt, and oh, by the way, he’s endorsed by the NRA.

Just so ya’ know, Ray Hunkins could have gotten that NRA endorsement just as easily. He owns guns and rifles, goes hunting, wants his childrens’ children to be able to hunt, and so on. Mr. Hunkins proudly served in the Marines. In response to the shock and awe that he didn’t get the NRA’s endorsing, he said the following (emphasis and links added):

I know the policy of the National Rifle Association is to endorse incumbents where all other things are equal; even when that incumbent was a Clinton appointee. I am a proud member of the NRA. I am also very proud to have the endorsement of the member of the Board of Directors of the NRA who in 2006 had more votes for the Board than any other NRA candidate, our distinguished Congresswoman, the Honorable Barbara Cubin. So, there you have it; though the NRA chose not to endorse the better candidate, the better candidate is

  • still a member of the NRA
  • not a Clinton appointee
  • supportive of gun-owner rights
  • endorsed by at least one board member of the NRA
  • and still endorsed by me!

On November 7 (or before by absentee), vote for Ray Hunkins. It’s a vote you won’t regret!
