Feed Jake

Relaxing with the Bar J

Are not five sparrows sold for two farthings, and not one of them is forgotten before God? (Luke 12:6)

Even in hard times of life, I can be amazed at the Creation of God. He created the world and universe around us, yet He focuses His attention on this little planet we call Earth. He made you and me in His image, meaning we have a soul. In Genesis, we read that He gave man dominion over the earth, to take care of it, and even to have dominion over the animals.  Not that God is incapable of taking care of these things (He is the Almighty, Omnipotent, Omnipresent, Omniscient). However, there is an interesting order.

I think that God put into us a concern for the things he is concerned about. He cares for the Luke and Matthew express His care for the sparrows. I would imagine He has a care for the other animals too.

Yesterday I received a call from Mom that Jake wasn’t doing well. He struggled to walk, he could decide on being inside or out, he didn’t even want to eat. Jake’s passing seemed to be near, and if I wanted to see him again, I should do so.

I got ready for my afternoon/evening job and headed out to Mom and Dad’s. As long as he walked slowly, he did fine, but if he tried to move quickly, his rear legs would give out on him. His countenance expressed that he was not well.

I got to pet him for quite a while. He rested his head on my right hand as I petted with my left. After a while, Mom noted that the droopy look he had for the better part of the last couple days had gone away and he had what seemed to be kind of a cheerfulness.

As the night progressed, his condidtion failed to improve.  This morning, Jake was humanely put to rest. He will be missed and his character was one that could always bring a smile to your face.
